WONDERING ABOUT THE “FOR SALE” SIGN IN FRONT OF OUR SANCTUARY BUILDING? As a small congregation, the increasing costs (and attention) associated with maintenance have become more than we can handle. So, we have put the sanctuary building up for sale. WE ARE NOT CLOSING as a church! Depending on what happens, we may move worship to the parish house or to another location. But, our intention is to remain a worshiping congregation well into the future. Come join us!

In Person: January and February, we worship in the Parish House (enter through the back door). Other months, we worship in the sanctuary building (best entrance is by way of the ramp on Chestnut St).

A WORD ABOUT US
We are a small, but enthusiastic, congregation located in Hallowell, Maine. We trust that we are part of the ever-unfolding story of God and God’s people, following the life and lessons of Jesus Christ, nurtured and guided by the Holy Spirit.
We welcome those with doubts, questions, fears, uncertainties, as well as those with a sure faith. We seek to encourage one another on the journey of life and faith, to live out our call to be a community that seeks to be God’s people in this time and place.

We typically celebrate the sacrament of communion on the first Sunday of the month (occasionally, the service is moved to the second Sunday). Elements are provided for those who attend in-person. If you are joining us on Zoom, please provide your own elements (bread or cracker and something liquid like juice or water).

ONLINE/CREDIT CARD Giving is available through the Maine Conference UCC. This link will bring you to the Giving Page of maineucc.org. Fill out the boxes. When you reach the “Designation” box, a drop down menu will appear. Select “My local Maine UCC church” and then another box will appear beneath, with Maine churches alphabetized by town. Find “Old South Congregational UCC, Hallowell.” NOTE: THERE ARE SEVERAL “OLD SOUTH”s in Maine. Make sure you have the right one! Fill out the rest of the form and those funds will be transferred to Old South/Hallowell.ave several ways that you can support the church:
Interested in supporting our outreach/mission projects? Mail your check to Old South. Put “outreach” or “mission” on the memo line. Our outreach/mission focus changes monthly. You can find out more in the News&Notes.
HANNAFORD PROGRAM— If you shop at Hannaford, you can support Old South! If you are already part of this program, mail your monthly check to the church (PO Box 508, Hallowell, ME 04347) by the 10th of the month. Make sure you indicate “Hannaford” on the memo line.
