PLEASE SEE COVID-19 INFO BELOW
No matter who you are, no matter where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here.
We are a small, but lively and mission-focused, faith community in Hallowell, Maine. We trust that we are part of the ever-unfolding story of God and God’s people, following the life and lessons of Jesus Christ, nurtured and guided by the Holy Spirit.
What We Do
We gather for worship each Sunday at 10:00, most of the time in our lovely sanctuary. January, February and sometimes into March, worship is held in the Parish House, across the street from the sanctuary building.
We belong to the United Church of Christ, a small Protestant denomination in the United States.
We are Open and Affirming, meaning that we welcome all people to our worship and community.
Old South & the COVID-19 Pandemic
During this crisis, Old South is suspending all in-person meetings and gatherings, including worship.
Worship will include Communion. Please have some bread and juice available.
We will spend some time in this season to listen and educate ourselves regarding the persistent and ugly reality of racism in the United States. We will meet on Tuesdays, at Noon, to learn, discuss and reflect- June 9, 16, 23, 30 and July 7. If you would like to join the group, please send an email to us for the link: email@example.com.
Support Old South! We have several ways that you can support the church:
ONLINE/CREDIT CARD Giving is available through the Maine Conference UCC. This link will bring you to the Giving Page of maineucc.org. Fill out the boxes. When you reach the “Designation” box, a drop down menu will appear. Select “My local Maine UCC church” and then another box will appear beneath, with Maine churches alphabetized by town. Find “Old South Congregational UCC, Hallowell.” NOTE: THERE ARE SEVERAL “OLD SOUTH”s in Maine. Make sure you have the right one! Fill out the rest of the form and those funds will be transferred to Old South/Hallowell.
