Music Director

The job description below is for the position of Music Director. The job of a Pianist/Accompanist would include far fewer responsibilities and required qualifications, as this person would accompany the choir and play service music (i.e., prelude, postlude, offertory, hymns). Someone else would be responsible for directing the music program and attending meetings.

The members of Old South Congregational Church United Church of Christ depend on the Music Director to provide suitable music, including piano, choral and vocal, for all services of the church. This includes selecting and purchasing music, as well as directing a broad and inclusive program of choral music at regular and special services of the church.

ACCOUNTABILITY:

The Music Director is a part-time, salaried position, that works closely with the Pastor, Administrative Assistant and Worship Team and is accountable to the Moderator and the Oversight Committee.

Administers the choral music library.  (Continue to manage the music library as a database.)

Advises the Worship Team on any perceived maintenance and repair needs for the piano.

Oversees arranging for a substitute pianist when necessary.
